We love music at Farsley Westroyd!
The smiles on the children's faces above show how much Y4 enjoyed their visit to Pudsey Civic this week to listen to the Leeds Youth Orchestra perform the "Proms." The children listened to different styles of music, including contemporary, classical and jazz. The latter being a firm favourite! We were off back to Pudsey Civic on Friday, when Year One had a joyful "Little Sing" with other primary schools from across the city. Well done to Year One, for learning the minibeast songs and being such enthusiastic participants. Miss Connell, said you were the best and loudest singers of all the children there! Finally, we had our Spring Concert, which showcased the skills the children have learnt playing instruments and our two enthusiastic choirs. We love to sing at Westroyd. We do have some serious debates about what to sing at times, with such different tastes, but whatever we agree on, we love the way singing together makes us feel.
You may have spotted our early years pupils in Farsley this week, as they visited our local greengrocers, "Sutcliffes", as part of their current learning in Art. Lots of colourful flowers!
You may not know this, but one of the governors is the local councillor, Craig Timms. He is a regular visitor to our school in his role and, like us, is keen to promote local community spirit! He visited us this week in his role of wellbeing governor, monitoring how we look after our hard-working staff. We are very lucky at Westroyd to have such hard-working, committed, invested members of staff, who go over and above for our children. It is really important that we show our appreciation and make sure they look after themselves. I am a very lucky headteacher to have such a brilliant team working at this school totally centred on the children!
As we come to the end of another term and with some warm sunshine on the horizon over the coming couple of weeks. Do make sure you have some fabulous family time, and we look forward to welcoming you back after the break. We have many exciting events up our sleeve. Make sure you check out the next newsletter, with additional important dates!
