On behalf of all the children, staff and governors, we warmly welcome you to our happy, nurturing, friendly school- Farsley Westroyd Primary School & Nursery. Here we will tell you a little about our school, but the best way to find out about us is to visit us. We know that the minute you walk into our school you will be hooked. Our school prides itself on our positive approach to life, relationships, learning and our determination to make every day the best school day ever! At Farsley Westroyd we leave the barriers and excuses at the school gates, as we believe there are no limits to what any child can achieve. In our curriculum, we prioritise time to embed the basic skills in all subjects, creating strong foundations at every level. As learners ourselves, our teaching approaches are always inline with the most up-to-date evidence-based strategies.
We are a local authority-maintained community school set within the heart of Farsley village. Our school dates back two hundred years, and we celebrate the important role we play in the history of the village community. We are a one-form entry school with year group classes from Nursery to Year Six. As a split-site school, we are able to offer a specialist purpose-built Early Years site which is separate to our Main School. Farsley Westroyd is the only school in the village that has a teacher-led nursery, ensuring that your child will start their educational career with a strong start. We offer both 15-and 30-hour places and, as we also run our own on-site, wraparound provision is available for all children at our school from 7.30am until 6pm every school day.
Farsley Westroyd is the smallest school in the village, which means that our school community is often referred to by many as our 'Westroyd family'. We all know each other and have the capacity to really get to know each other as individuals and offer care, guidance and challenge. Pupils tell us they feel safe, emotionally and physically and therefore in a prime position to learn. We actively promote pupil leadership, roles and responsibilities just like in a family. This is why our school runs so well. We all play a part!
Our pupils are proud to be who they are and that creates mutual respect. It is important that our children learn about our diverse world to enable them to make a positive contribution. Visitors always comment on how welcoming we are and inclusive, which we are tremendously proud of.
Children are more successful if families and school work together. We are always open to feedback and evaluation. This is how we will continue on our journey to make this the best school in Yorkshire, if not the world!
